500 trees to be planted in the Upper Delaware on Earth Day Rod and gun club teams up with paper company, publisher, and nature conservancy in a private-public partnership to regenerate the forest.

Bushkill. Five hundred tree saplings will be planted in the Upper Delaware region of Northeastern Pennsylvania on Earth Day, Monday, April 22.
Private, public, and corporate citizens will come together to regenerate and protect the natural forest of the Pocono Mountains and sustain this vital resource for generations to come. Fifty volunteers from the Maskenozha Rod and Gun Club will team up with Lindenmeyr Book Publishing, Sappi Fine Paper NA, and the Delaware Highland Conservancy to plant the trees.
There will be a 10:30 a.m. briefing at the Maskenozha Rod & Gun Club clubhouse at 549 Maskenozha Drive in Bushkill. The volunteers will work until 1:30 p.m.
Lindenmeyr and Sappi donated the saplings and have committed in supporting future projects with Maskenozha to sustain area forests now and for the future. Both companies have a strong vision for conservation and sustainability, Maskenozha says.
Maskenozha has partnered with the Delaware Highlands Conservancy to secure a land conservation easement through the U.S. Interior Department's Federal Legacy Program to protect its property from future residential or commercial development. This project will create more than 150,000 continuous acres of open, protected land.
The Upper Delaware supplies more than 15 million residents drinking water. Planting trees and other native plant species helps control erosion and filter pollutants from entering the water supply and protects the thermal barrier for streams and wildlife.
