Artists celebrate our national parks in new exhibit

    Artists celebrate our national parks in new exhibit

SHOHOLA — The Upper Delaware and Water Gap area are part of a distinguished family that's celebrating its centennial this year: the National Parks of America.
The Artists' Market Community Center is paying tribute to the nation's parks through photographs and paintings to be shown at its Shohola gallery on Saturday, Aug. 6.
Making the celebration even more special is the recent recognition of the center by National Geographic, which called it "one of the best destinations for travelers seeking an authentic experience of the region.”
The day includes casual viewing before the formal reception, welcoming remarks come from the Barryville Area Arts Association, a brief presentation by the National Park Service followed by a Q&A, and a presentation by artist Woody Goldberg, who will share his thoughts on the National Park Service. All of Goldberg’s art is framed in silver for this exhibition.
Goldberg has taken photos at Bandaleer National Monument, Hawaii Volcano National Park, Hoshua Tree National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, and Zion National Park.
Photographer and artist Rebecca Esposito's photos and paintings focus on the Everglades National Park, Glacier National Park, and Smoky Mountains National Park.
Nick Roes’ photos and paintings of the Delaware River zero in on the importance of national parks in our lives.
Nancy Kaericher’s photos of the Delaware River, Tamara D’Antonio's photos of eagles, and the plein air oil paintings of Joan Stander and Elva Zinger, all done along the river, foster renewed appreciation of the national treasure in our midst.
In addition to regular art exhibits, center offers monthly programs such as Creative Conversations and Songwriters Anonymous, where "you’re welcome to come and take a turn playing or singing your original compositions, or just sit and listen."
