MILFORD - Former neighbors came out to help a Matamoras native on Nov.14, as donors in an American Red Cross blood drive. Firefighter, Scott Gillette of Matamoras was on hand to thank neighbors and strangers who came to donate blood Monday on behalf of his brother Todd. Todd, who now lives in Silsby, Texas, has been battling cancer, his brother said, and he is scheduled to undergo a bone marrow transplant after Thanksgiving. The donated blood would be credited toward his treatment needs, but Red Cross Supervisor Carole Chura said the holidays are a good time for anyone to donate, as the period always produces blood shortages. Contact the Red Cross at 800-432-8045 for information on an upcoming drive.
