ARTery Gallery announces juried art show for local artists

The ARTery Gallery, at Foresters Hall (210 Broad St, Milford) recently announced its new exhibit “Celebrating the Arts,” an open-juried six-week event to showcase regional artists. The member-run cooperative gallery, now entering its 27th year, periodically opens its door and invites non-member artists to share its premier gallery space in the Foresters Hall.
“The ARTery members are always eager to meet other regional artists and display the varied creations that come to them through this exhibit,” the gallery said in its announcement. “They are proud of the unusual business format of the ARTery gallery — a cooperative, which has endured in a very organic manner.”
The gallery noted that each new member contributes their own unique energy and ideas, making the gallery “a living, changing organism rather than a static place.” Celebrating the Arts allows gallery members to introduce other artists to this unique format that promotes interaction between artists and gallery visitors every business day.
In past years, this exhibit has displayed around 75 pieces from artists living in the tri-state region, with varied mediums, from metal, clay, wood, function and wall art, photography, collage, oil, watercolor, pastel, in all genre of subject matter, from abstract to representational.
Gallery Director Marie Liu said, “We like to be community minded, and this is our chance to reach out to the art community, share our space and meet each other. It’s a lot of work, but is really worth it when we can generate a feeling of comradery with the larger art community, while giving our visitors a taste of the enormous creativity going on all around us.”
Awards will be presented at the reception on Saturday, March 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. The public is welcome to this free cultural event, with refreshments provided. While there, you can vote for the Peoples’ Choice Award which will be determined at the end of the exhibit. The exhibit will run from March 15 to April 28.
The gallery’s March hours are Friday through Monday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with April hours Thursday through Monday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit arterygallerymilford.com or call 570-409-1234.
