Choral society looks to the new year
LORDS VALLEY - The Hemlock Farms Choral Society is taking their “winter break” but will resume activities on Monday evening, March 13, at 7:00 p.m. when they will be welcoming back their regular members as well as receiving new members. Membership is open to everyone both from within the Community as well as from the surrounding area. All that is needed is a love of singing. The calendar for 2006 has been set and it is hoped that many of you will come out and enjoy the programs which include: Sunday. April 23. 2006 The Choral Society will be participating in the Annual Interfaith Holocaust Service at 4:00 PM at the Jewish Fellowship of Hemlock Farms Monday. May 29. 2006 The Choral Society will be participating in the Annual Memorial Day Service at 11:00 AM at the Church at Hemlock Farms Sunday. August 6, 2006 The Choral Society will be presenting the Summer Concert, which will be a light-hearted event. The time and place TBA Saturday, December 2. 2006 The Fifth Annual Holiday Concert, time and place TBA. Looking back at their 2005 activities, the society acknowledged another busy year, and is grateful to all who supported them financially as well as those who attended the concerts and Interfaith Services at which they performed. During 2005, the Choral Society participated in both the Annual Interfaith Holocaust Service and the Annual Memorial Day Service. They were also the featured artists for Hemlock Farms Community’s Cultural Arts Department’s “Main Event” both in August, when they presented “An Afternoon With P: D. Q. Bach, and Other Musical Insults,” and in December, when they performed Handel’s “The Messiah.” A second December concert was also presented at the First Presbyterian Church in Hawley with traditional holiday music. During the year, the Choral Society meets every Monday evening at 7:00 PM at the community’s Conference Center.
