Dinner and a Creature Feature to present ‘20 Million Miles to Earth’
Milford. Enjoy this special holiday event Dec. 18.

The Pike County Historical Society and Museum will be showing “20 Million Miles to Earth” as part of its Dinner and a Creature Feature series on Wednesday, December 18 at 5 p.m. in in the Columns Museum Foundation Room.
This film was released in 1957 to favorable reviews. Here’s the rundown: The first spacecraft sent to Venus crashes upon return and in the days to follow a strange specimen, brought back by the astronauts, hatches into a creature which grows very rapidly. This poses a problem and havoc ensues! The film features stop-motion animation, a trademark of technical special effects master Ray Harryhausen, and the creature, the Ymir, is a favorite of Harryhausen’s. The Ymir has a well-defined personality and manages to evoke sympathy for its bewildered plight. Filmed in Italy, the Roman locations — especially the climactic Colosseum battle — add unique touches to this minor classic.
