A Comedy and Bluegrass Show About Public Records is a one-night only show in Port Jervis. All the humor is inspired by actual public documents, such as: FCC complaints about Big Bang Theory being too violent, FBI profiles of sports stars, and misguided visa rejections.

On top of that, you’ll get blazing fast bluegrass music, featuring Grammy-nominated Tristan Scroggins, fiddler Martha McDonnell and Bennett Sullivan (handpicked by Steve Martin for his Broadway musical “Bright Star”).

The show hits Port Jervis on Dec 7 at 7 p.m., at Foundry42 (42 Front St., Port Jervis) before heading overseas for shows in The Hague, London, and Edinburgh. Performers will read from real, unintentionally funny public records. And elite musical talents will play tunes inspired by themes revealed in the documents.

The show was written by Milford resident Curtis Raye, who spent eight years in Washington, D.C. and one year in rural Iowa working on the presidential caucus, observing the inherent comedy in public records. He’s learned that school board meetings, court testimony, and even White House menus are treasure troves of human folly.

Past guests on the show have included comedians from “VEEP,” “Ghosts,” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” Tristan Scroggins was recently heard on the Grammy-nominated “The John Hartford Fiddle Tune Project, Vol. 1.” Martha McDonnell worked with Sting on the world premiere run of his show, “The Last Ship.” Her fiddling and singing have been featured on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and the Tony Awards.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at foialove.com.
