Fun at the library
Port Jervis. Check out what your local branch has planned.
The Port Jervis Free Library has a variety of events planned for the coming weeks. Starting the first full week of January, two different weekly yoga classes will take place: enjoy asanas/therapy yoga for all ages on Mondays at 11 a.m. and chair-assisted yoga for adults on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. The classes will take place in the Community Room. Bring water and a yoga mat.
The library’s “Scrap and Yap” scrapbooking/journaling group will start up in January as well. Bring your projects and books to the library every Monday at 5:30 p.m.
Speaking of hobbies, if you have extra hobby supplies to give away or want to stock up on some supplies, stop by the library on January 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. for the “Take a Hobby, Leave a Hobby” craft supply swap. This event is open to all ages.
The library has events for kids as well. On January 6 at 3:30 p.m., teens and tweens can gather together to make friendship bracelets. Registration is suggested. Then on January 10 at 4 p.m., teens and tweens can stop by the library to learn how to paint winterscapes. Participants will be able to take their creations home. Registration is required by contacting the library at 845-856-7313 or ptj@rcls.org.
Don’t miss out on some cardboard fort building on January 13 at 4 p.m. This program is suitable for kids ages 9 to 14. The library will also be running an “Artic STEM” program every Tuesday in January at 4 p.m. suitable for kids ages 10 to 12. Registration is also required for this program. Saturday LEGO fun is also starting up again. Every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., enjoy building LEGOs upstairs in the library. Anyone interested in a Saturday LEGO build can just stop on by during that time.
These are just a few of the programs the library has in store this winter. For more information, contact the library at 845-856-7313 or ptj@rcls.org, or visit the library website at portjervislibrary.org.
