GlassRoots Fellowship Exhibition
Layton, NJ. Artist fellows learn and show new work.
Peters Valley School of Craft has announced their upcoming exhibition, GlassRoots Fellowship Exhibition, in the Sally D. Francisco Gallery from August 23 through September 23. An opening reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 with artist presentations following at 7p.m. In its second year, this exhibition is a showcase of the collaboration between GlassRoots and Peters Valley that follows the artistic development of seven young artist Fellows as they take intensive back-to-back workshops at each institution, as well as featuring new work from last year’s cohort.
Participating Fellows, 18 – 24 years of age, spend five weeks learning glass techniques at the GlassRoots studios in Newark, NJ before arriving at the Peters Valley campus for seven weeks of hands on exploration and making.
Each year Peters Valley School of Craft invites over 150 artists to teach workshops in each of its studios: Blacksmithing, Ceramics, Fibers (Surface Design & Weaving), Fine Metals (& Jewelry), Woodworking (& Woodturning), Photography, Printmaking and Special Topics (Glass, Painting, Sculpture, etc.). These nationally and internationally recognized artists come to Peters Valley from nearby, around the country, and worldwide.
Each Fellow is welcomed to choose one workshop every week giving these emerging artists the opportunity to learn from, and work alongside, nationally-recognized instructors in an immersive workshop environment.
The GlassRoots Fellowship Exhibition will prove to be an inspiring show featuring a wide variety of styles, techniques, and materials across multiple media. Work will range from glass, blacksmithing, jewelry, woodworking, printmaking, and textiles. Following the open reception, we welcome you to join us at the Pavilion where each Fellow is going to be giving a short artist lecture beginning at 7pm.
Participating artists include: Deladin “Adem” Dag-Sosu, Giovanna Eley, Jose Angel Ruano, Karina Diaz, Neftali Granadas, Nathaly Tlaseca-Verde, and Lasandra Wieters.
The Gallery at Peters Valley School of Craft is located at 19 Kuhn Rd., Layton, NJ 07851 and is open daily from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Work will be available to view online at https://www.petersvalleygallery.org/collections/glassroots-fellowship-exhibition beginning August 23rd, 2022.
