‘Groove Port’ music series to feature Karl Latham

Port Jervis’s UpFront Exhibition Space continues its “Groove Port” series on Friday, July 19, at 7 p.m. with a performance by drummer Karl Latham, plus a guest bassist to be announced.

Latham is a native of Warwick, NY; his career has spanned the globe and included performances and collaborations with Grammy Award-winning artists, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members, and several internationally acclaimed musicians.

Latham is known for his ability to dig into a variety of musical styles. He has been included in the Drummerworld Top Drummers list. In addition to performing as a freelance drummer, Latham can be heard drumming when leading his own group “Living Standards,” as a co-leader of Big Fun(K) with saxophonist/composer Don Braden and co leader with Ryan Carniaux, and Mark Egan of the “2016 BMW Welt Jazz Award” nominated group Constellations.

He also works as a private drum instructor and an adjunct music instructor at Drew University, County College of Morris and Passaic County Community College. Latham currently specializes in online remote drum instruction.

The UpFront Exhibition Space is located at 31 Jersey Ave., Port Jervis. Tickets for this performance are $20 and available at the door. The space is also home to an art gallery that will be open from 1 to 7 p.m. the day of the show. For questions, call 845-754-1808.
