Milford. The Hanna Q Dance Company will perform "Winter Saga" as part of the "8 in Show" series at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, at Dixon Place, 161A Chrystie St., New York, N.Y. The Swedish-born and -raised artistic director and choreographer, Johanna LjungQvist-Brinson (Hanna Q) of Milford, founded the contemporary-modern dance company, which is known for its technically rigorous movements. She is also the founder of the Milford DanceFest. "Winter Saga" includes music written by LjungQvist-Brinson's composer friend in Paris, Stephane Le Gouvello. The short saga is based on characters and personifications of winter from Scandinavian and Russian/Nordic mythology and folktales. The young rascal Jack Frost is out racing, spreading his artful patterns of glittering silver. Suddenly the little Snow Maiden appears, making the world beautifully white and pristine. Then the Snow Maiden’s uncle, King Winter, who is used to his little niece spending time with him, realizes she is not by his side. Tickets for the performance are $18. The "8 in Show" series is curated by Sangeeta Yesley. For more information or tickets visit dixonplace.org/performances/8-in-show-3-25-2020.
