Preparations are being made to host “Tunes Along the Towpath 4,” an outdoor concert, at Glen Eyre Farms on Saturday September 21. The site overlooks the Lackawaxen River and what was once the towpath for the Delaware and Hudson Canal’s route through Pike County. The featured performers embrace the sounds of the era through meticulous performances in tribute to two of the 60s most influential bands, The Doors and Jefferson Airplane.

The organizers said, “The site is perfect for an outdoor concert and our hosts from Glen Eyre Farms are most gracious in allowing us to use their beautiful property again this year. The event has been building momentum over the last three years and last year the event saw over 100 attendees! We hope to double that number this year, as there is plenty of parking and room for even more. We are definitely going for that 60s Woodstock vibe, we even encourage our guests to wear their best “hippie” attire. The music is going to be phenomenal. Just bring a lawn chair and have a good time!”

The event is B.Y.O.B. and food and soft drinks will be available for purchase. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. The gates open at 12 p.m. and the music starts at 1 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Pike County Historical Society and help fund exhibits and programs that celebrate the upcoming 200th anniversary of the opening of the D&H Canal. It was just across the river from the concert site that a thriving canal town known as Millville once existed. Now known as Glen Eyre, in Lackawaxen Twp., this beautiful part of Pike County once saw canal boats loaded with coal winding their way through its wilds on the early part of the journey to Kingston via the Delaware and Hudson Canal. The Delaware and Hudson Canal in its entirety was placed on the National Register of Historic Sites in 1968.

Who’s playing?

Formed in 2013, Feast of Friends stands out as one of the only continuously active Doors tribute bands in the Northeast. Unlike typical parody acts, this tribute avoids costumes and impersonations, instead honoring the music itself with precision and passion.

Reverend Jefferson was formed as a tribute in sound and spirit to the music of the legendary Jefferson Airplane. With soaring three-part vocal harmonies and improvisational jams, Reverend Jefferson delivers the music of Jefferson Airplane like no other.

Glen Eyre Farms is located at 495 Towpath Road, Hawley. Tickets can be purchased online at pikehistorical.org/events/tunes4. Call 570-296-8126 for more info.
