Historical Society to hold talk on Revolutionary War soldier

The Dingmans Ferry-Delaware Township Historical Society has another historical lecture planned at the Delaware Township Municipal Building. On Thursday, July 18, Kyle Jenks, who had previously delivered a talk on James Madison, will return to present “Revolutionary Reminisces of Patriot Soldier Douglas McKenna.”
Jenks will recount this soldier’s war experience in and around the vicinity of the Battle of Conashaugh and other events that led up to it, including Valley Forge.
This event will take place at the municipal building at 116 Wilson Hill Road, Dingmans Ferry, starting at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and guests are asked to arrive promptly so as not to interrupt the presentation. The historical society also reminds residents that there is a free historical museum at Akenac Park on Route 739, which is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 13 and 28, August 10 and 25, September 14 and 22, October 12 and 27, and November 9 and 24.
