Violinist Alexander Markov will perform on March 16, 2023 at the Dingman-Delaware Middle School Auditorium, 1365 RT. 739, Dingman’s Ferry, PA. The concert begins at 7 p.m.

Sponsored by the Kindred Spirits Arts Programs (KSAP), the concert will include some collaboration with a rhythm section of DDMS musicians. The next day, Markov will offer presentations and a masterclass to area music students.

Internationally celebrated violinist Alexander Markov has been hailed as one of the world’s most captivating and versatile musicians and who always makes an instant connection with his audiences.

Born in Moscow, he studied violin with his father concert violinist, teacher and composer Albert Markov. By the time he was eight, he was already appearing as a soloist with orchestras and in double concertos with his father. Markov emigrated to the U.S. with his parents and received his United States citizenship in 1982.

Awarded a prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 1987, he made his New York debut recital at Carnegie Hall in 1983. A Gold Medal winner at the Paganini International Violin Competition, he has appeared as a soloist with some of the world’s most celebrated orchestras and has performed with many renowned conductors.

“Markov is a unique personality, the only one who is totally brilliant in a classical repertoire and plays rock music on a six-string Golden electric violin,” said Yosef Feigelson, KSAP founder and artistic director. “I think his wide appeal should make lots of people - both the young and a general public - very excited and eager to attend the concert and to meet him in person. The rock part of the program was specifically written by Mr. Markov to engage the young and encourage their participation.”

Attendance is free but donations will be welcomed and greatly appreciated.
