'Night of Psychedelic Sound' at the DVAA
Narrowsburg, N.Y. Enjoy dance party sounds where electronic rhythms meet New Age melodies, and punk meets desert blues.
The Delaware Valley Arts Association will host "A Night of Psychedelic Sound Immersion," the wrap to its fall cultural series, at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Tusten Theatre in Narrowsburg, N.Y.
Performances are by Livingston Manor-based electronic music artists Slippery Stairs, the psychedelic band Sunwatchers, and a light show by visual artist Macrodose.
Slippery Stairs is the live electronic project of Nick Forte and Stacy Wakefield that has been creating buzz around Sullivan County with their live dance parties. Their music, built with synths, samples, and drum machines, marries the innocent joy of New Age melodies and the atmosphere of post-punk Goth to driving beats. It is fun enough for anyone who likes dance music and complex enough to satisfy serious fans of experimental composition.
Sunwatchers, a New York-based ensemble that has toured Europe and the states, blurs the lines between avant-jazz, punk, psychedelia, ethno-jazz, and desert blues to create joyous, chaotic, mystical elegies with a modern sound. Their lineup is live drums, saxophone, bass, and guitar. A psychedelic light show by Brooklyn-based Macrodose will accompany both musical performances.
The activities of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance are supported in part by public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. For more information call 845-252-7576.
