Painting soon to begin for Plein Air Milford
The free event invites painters to set up outside around Milford and paint what appeals to them on June 25. A reception and exhibit at the Tom Quick Inn will be on July 9.
MILFORD, PA: Easels will soon pop up around Milford with paintings in progress of the town’s parks, gardens, buildings and streetscapes for the fifth annual Plein Air Milford. Artists will paint at some of the same old buildings, though many are owned by new people.
“Our reception has always been warm,” said one organizer. “I was expecting people to say, ‘Hey, stop blocking up the sidewalk’, but instead they take pictures of us, ask us about our work, and bring us coffee.”
The community painting party will take place on June 25, with a reception and exhibit on July 9.
Artists will meet to sign in at 10 a.m. on the porch at 403 Broad Street. Then artists will spread out to any area of interest to create. Event organizers will find registered artists around noon to deliver a box lunch, courtesy of Tom Quick Inn.
Artists’ completed work will be on display on July 9, from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Green Room at the Tom Quick Inn. The reception will include a wine tasting, cheese board, mini sweet treats, and a cash bar.
Organizers thank Milford Hospitality Group for making this year’s event possible.
