Music by Bach for small vocal and instrumental ensemble will collide with Motown, The Mamas & the Papas, Bon Jovi, and other classic rock numbers as the Port Jervis Consort performs “BACH/ROCK!” on Sunday, November 17 at 6 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Port Jervis, Broome Street at Sussex Street. All time Bach favorites such as “Air on the G String,” the aria commonly known as “Sheep May Safely Graze” and the motet, “Lobet den Herrn (Praise to the Lord)” will be performed in various groupings of the nine singers, two flutes, cello, and piano, plus special guest, mezzo soprano Kathleen Reveille, who will perform the famous Gounod setting of Ave Maria to an accompaniment of music by Bach, with the full ensemble joining in.

The second half of the program will add guitar and drums for hit songs by The Supremes; The Temptations; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; The Mamas & the Papas; and Bon Jovi, where Reveille will prove that opera singers can also sing rock songs. There will be a reception during the intermission and admission is free. For information, contact 845-858-9895 or portjervisarts@gmail.com.
