With 2024 being the 75th anniversary of the Tony Awards, the Presby Players Community Theater will feature songs only from productions that won the Tony’s Best Broadway Musical when it presents “Broadway Babies 2024” on September 6, 7, and 8 at Marsh Hall at 60 Sussex Street, Port Jervis.

Musical Director Sandy Stalter said, “Our opening number is from the 1949 production of ‘Kiss Me Kate’ — the very first Best Musical award winner; appropriately enough, the song is ‘Another Openin’, Another Show.’”

Stalter said all of the songs in Broadway Babies 2024 will be performed in chronological order, beginning with 1949 and concluding with the song “You Will Be Found” from the 2017 Tony Award-winning show “Dear Evan Hansen.” She added, “I wish we could have picked a song from all 75 of them, but that would have meant a four-hour show!”

“Each performer will introduce their song and identify which award-winning musical it’s from and who the composer is,” said Artistic Director Jeffrey Stocker. “Also, the audiences will get a program insert which will have more information about each song.” He added, “There will be choreography by Melissa Thomas; it’s one of our most popular shows, so come early to get a good seat!”
