To mark the summer solstice, a lively cabaret of popular songs is on tap for music lovers. The Presby Players’ show, “Summertime” runs from June 21 to 23. Audiences will be treated to tunes spanning genres, from country western to Broadway with a cast that spans generations.
Artistic Director Jeffrey Stocker explained, “The singers range in age and will be performing tunes by Rogers and Hammerstein to Dolly Parton to Billy Joel.”
The show also features choreography by Melissa Thomas and musical direction by Sandy Stalter. Stalter said, “’Summertime’ has one of our biggest casts in recent years, totaling 24, with many new young singers this time, as well as a lot of very talented adults. We are including songs from genres like Broadway, pop, country, Latin, and comic songs.” And of course, Gershwin’s classic, “Summertime” will be included, along with the opening number, “Magic to Do” from “Pippin.”
The show takes place at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, June 21 and 22, and 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 23. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students, sold at the door at 60 Sussex St. Marsh Hall, Port Jervis. Doors open a half hour before performances.
