There will be a one-night-only dinner at the Fauchere’s Delmonico room on Saturday, October 7 at 6 p.m. The evening will be celebrating the publication of Max Tucci’s book, recently published by Rizzoli, “The Delmonico Way: Sublime Entertaining & Legendary recipes from the restaurant that made New York!”

There has always been a connection between the Hotel Fauchere in Milford and the well-known Delmonico’s in New York. Louis Fauchere was the very famous chef there, but it was Oscar Tucci who actually established the restaurant as the gold standard of fine dining and hospitality. The strict policy and standards Tucci had for the restaurant was referred to as “The Delmonico Way,” which propelled its ascendency to become a beacon of excellence, sophistication, and culture. When Louis Fauchere (having become a hotelier) originally opened the Hotel Fauchere in Milford, it just made sense to open the Delmonico Room in homage to his past. Sean Strub and Dick Snyder kept the tradition alive when they bought the hotel.

Delmonico’s in New York and the Hotel Fauchere had been closed for a number of years due to COVID and are now opening up again. Along comes Max Tucci, grandson of Oscar Tucci who, among other things, is now the brand ambassador of Delmonico’s in New York. Max Tucci is a man of many talents. He has been a television producer and has hosted shows that feature cooking, entertaining, and lifestyle, as well as being a name in the world of high fashion photography. In addition to all of these personae, Tucci is also a born philanthropist, having given to the American Ballet Theater, Boys’ Town, and The American Diabetes Association, among other organizations. He has raised millions of dollars for these and other groups.

At this forthcoming soirée, Tucci will feature recipes from Delmonico’s, and Chef Kavon of the Hotel Fauchere will add his touch. There will be a four-course dinner, including classics from Delmonico’s such as Louis Fauchere’s autumn cauliflower and foraged mushroom soup and bone-in Delmonico steak or their crispy skinned black garlic salmon. Tucci will be talking about these delicacies and how they were prepared in the “Delmonico Way.”

Tucci will showcase the famous cherries jubilee and there will be a book signing after the dinner. Each guest will receive a signed copy of “The Delmonico Way.”

Indeed, the evening will be more of an experience than a regular dinner.

Tickets can be purchased at Open Table at the cost of $185 per person.
