UpFront announces summer art show
Port Jervis. An artist’s reception will be held June 15.
The UpFront Exhibition Space will feature works by three area artists for its summer art show, slated to run from June 1 through July 28, with an artist reception on Saturday, June 15, from 1 to 6 p.m.
The new show will feature works by artists Bruce Young, Rosalind Hodgkin, and Judith Cramer.
Young’s main concentration is pen and ink, both black and white and color. His work “NYC’s Greenwich Village” will be on display, featuring a NYC street scene. Young attended the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts in the late 1960s, where he developed his fine graphic skill.
Hodgkin’s acrylic painting “Cycle 2” will be featured. According to the Gallery, Hodgkin frequently uses the seasons as a theme in her paintings, representing a metaphor for life’s processes.
Cramer’s “Blue Skies Mountainside” pastel will also be featured. The piece takes the viewer on a bird’s eye trip into the atmosphere. Many layers of color with texture are blended to create an impression of great space. Cramer started young, drawing with her dad at the kitchen table and continued on into painting and design. Her inspiration is found in nature — trees, flowers, mountains, water and the sky.
This show will include a special display of art from Port Jervis’s Sister city, Lapio, Italy, and will also include a poetry reading and an appearance by the mayor from Lapio, Italy.
The gallery is located at 31 Jersey Ave, Port Jervis. For more information, call 945-754-1808 or follow UpFront Exhibition Space on Facebook.
