Pike's Peek

There was lots of recognition out there for the detail in last week's clue — and a big correction for the Courier.

Dori Stewart of Milford writes: "The hoist behind Stroyan Funeral Home at the corner of Pear Alley and Seventh Street. Also last week I correctly identified the photo as the garage behind 306 Seventh St. on Elderberry and Apple Alley. It also has a funny sign that says 'In 1897 on this site nothing happened here.' Better re check your photo because the wrong answer was given."

And Karen Proctor wrote us an authoritative answer: "Hello Pike's Peek. You and Matt Osterberg are mistaken. The garage pictured in last week's Pike's Peek is on Elderberry Alley, NOT" on the corner of Fifth And Pear Alley across from Joey's Pizza. I know because the garage at Fifth and Pear Alley belongs to me — the similarity between the two garages is that both garages have the little farmhouse scene hanging on the front of the garage – in your photo the farmhouse scene is hanging outside on the garage wall. The farmhouse scene on my garage at Fifth and Pear Alley is hanging INSIDE the second story garage window."

We're really sorry about messing up. We heard a lot about it, which means that our sharp Pike's Peek players are really paying attention! Many kind thanks to all for letting us know. You get extra credit, and a seat at the head of the class.

As for this week, the readers to get the clue right are: Keith Raser of Shohola, and Pike County Commissioner Matt Osterberg, Denise Sudol, Carl Muller, Bob and Judy Brumbaugh, Sherry Wolf, Rick Nichols, Cecelia Abrams of Milford.
