Milford.Dr. Brian Blaum has worked in Delaware Valley School District for 20 years, as teacher and administrator.
Delaware Valley School District (DVSD)announced Dr. Brian Blaum as the district’s next superintendent at the school board’s recent meeting. Dr. Blaum will begin serving in his role later this month.
The board partnered with experts from the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) , beginning in September 2022, to conduct an extensive search. In partnership with PSBA, the board conducted two rounds of interviews with five candidates, including a round with stakeholders from the district, before ultimately selecting Dr. Blaum from two finalists.
“Dr. Blaum was selected for his strong educational and personal leadership qualities. He possesses the right mix of confidence in his knowledge of subjects, from curriculum to finance, that he will deal with as superintendent. Yet he remains a very humble person willing to listen and adapt,” said Delaware Valley Board President Jack Fisher. “He will bring a vitality of both youthfulness and the experience that comes from a 20-year Delaware Valley history to the role of superintendent. We believe he will be a role model for our students and for our community. He will make an excellent tenth man on our Team of Ten school board members.”
Dr. Blaum has been an educator and administrator at Delaware Valley School District. He began his career as a social studies teacher at Delaware Valley Middle School in 2004. Two years later, he moved to the high school where he worked on the expansion of the Advanced Placement program.
After his time teaching AP courses, Dr. Blaum pursued educational leadership and served in a variety of positions in the administrative structure, including almost a decade as high school principal. In his most current role, Dr. Blaum serves as director of secondary education, working with students in grades 6 through 12.
“Dr. Blaum is looking forward to assembling his team, his cabinet and his department chairs to lead Delaware Valley in the next generation. He knows the Delaware Valley culture well and will select the best and the brightest,” Fisher added.
Dr. Blaum received his doctorate in human development from Marywood University in August 2016. Prior to that, he received his master’s in educational leadership from Wilkes University and his bachelor’s in comprehensive social sciences and secondary education from Marywood University.
