Dingmans Ferry. Lenape celebration and public treaty signing set for Oct. 7 in Dingmans Ferry
The Dingmans Ferry Historical Society invites you to a celebration of the Lenape Nation from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Dingmans Ferry Historical Society Museum at Akenac Park, located on Route 739 in Dingmans Ferry.
Experts will discuss the past and present-day Lenape people, dedicate new Lenape artifacts for the museum and native drumming, crafts, museum tours and storytelling will take place throughout the day.
Perhaps, most notably, is the opportunity for members of the public to make history. Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania is pursuing recognition by the state as the indigenous stewards of their homelands and as the spiritual keepers of the “Lena’pe Sippu or Delaware River.”
You are invited to sign a public treaty supporting the movement at this event if you wish.
