Honesdale. Tim Sohn, who has a livestreamed show, Showing Up: Perspectives On Cancer, will hold an in person event on Sept. 10, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., in Honesdale.
Tim Sohn, a 15+ year survivor of chronic leukemia, began sharing his story of living with cancer publicly in June of 2021. In September he will bring together cancer patients, survivors and supporters in person to encourage them to share their stories, support and inspire each other.
On Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sohn will host Showing Up: Perspectives On Cancer in-person event at Park Street Complex in Honesdale. This is the first in-person event in connection with the weekly livestreamed show Showing Up: Perspectives On Cancer, found on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter & YouTube.
“In November 2021 I created the livestreamed show, Showing Up: Perspectives On Cancer, as a safe space where cancer patients, survivors and supporters could share their stories and receive love and support from people who tune in each week and share their connections and perspectives on cancer in the Comments. It’s a beautiful community of people who come together from around the world. Now it’s time to come together in person,” said Sohn, who recently received the Mission Award from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for organizing a 24 hour live-streamed fundraiser that raised thousands of dollars and brought 24 hours of cancer awareness.
The agenda for the day includes:
• A keynote (to be announced)
• Small breakout groups where attendees can share their cancer stories and receive support from other attendees.
• The first ever in person Showing Up: Perspectives On Cancer episode will also be broadcast online. Sohn will have a conversation with Brian O’Sullivan, who was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma in May of 2021.
• More will be announced soon.
Lunch will be provided.
