The Ecumenical Food Pantry reports a large increase in enrollment, an addition of 70 new families since January. They attribute the change to rising food costs that put more pressure on families whose finances are already stretched thin. Weekly family visits from April through June are 36% higher than for the second quarter of 2021.
The pantry also reports that one in five of their clients is a senior living on a limited fixed income. In addition to the supplemental food the pantry provides, they also assist by distributing nutritional food provided by the Senior Food Box Program.
