Grandparents treated to special music performance by Dingman Delaware Middle School
Dingmans Ferry. Students’ grandparents were offered breakfast and then attended a student concert.
The day before Thanksgiving a grandparents event was held at Dingman Delaware Middle school. Students’ grandparents were invited for a free continental breakfast, followed by a student concert.
Many grandparents came, and Principal Brian McCarthy told them how much their presence meant to the students. Students’ excitement was visible in their big smiles, running up to their grand parents for hugs. Hall monitors almost danced as they directed the grandparents to the cafeteria. Excitement prevailed.
A concert was performed by the middle school, first string instruments--violins, violas and cellos; then the chorus, followed by brass and percussion. Mrs. Stein, who will retire this year, directed the string instruments and chorus. Mr. Curchoe directed the brass and percussion and played guitar. The audience was informed that only a small portion of students in the music department could participate.
The Parent Teachers Association organized and arranged the event. Last year they held a similar event for veterans, active service members and emergency responders, which was also well received.
