High Tea Room opening in Port Jervis

Mariola Jedynasty, owner of Awakening NY, in Port Jervis, recalled the history that brought her from Poland to Port Jervis, where she is opening a tea room in her wellness boutique.

“In my college years, during my visit to Greece I observed their rich culture and relaxing ways of spending time together, with laughter, slow pace atmosphere, tea, coffee and good food, and from this experience, the idea of the Tea Room/Café was born,” she said.

After leaving Poland, Jedynasty lived in New York City, where she was a real estate broker. Then, 10 years ago, she started a wellness center with a health-oriented café in Brooklyn.

“My next chapter started two years ago when I decided to move my Metaphysical Shop, which was part of my Wellness Center to upstate NY, to a small charming town, Port Jervis. I took a risk to move to the area I wasn’t familiar with, but I trusted my intuition,” said Jedynasty. Now I feel that Awakening is part of the Renaissance happening in Port Jervis, which motivated me to fulfill my dream and add a Tea Room to our existing Crystal Shop.”

She will offer a high tea menu consisting of finger sandwiches, artisan pastry, and tea customs from all over the world, aiming for elegance and relaxation for special events. Tea and coffee will be served in china from different parts of the world to celebrate customs from different cultures. “Clean mountain water” will be used for drinks, she says.

At the Tea Room grand opening, visitors are invited to taste the venue’s specialties, all complimentary, on Oct. 22, 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.
