Hudson Valley Jazz Fest coming to more venues nearby
Warwick. Several Hudson Valley Jazz Fest shows will be in Warwick and Goshen. The festival is also expanding to Ulster County and upper Westchester.
A blend of well known jazz artists and regional talent will perform in the expanding Hudson Valley Jazz Festival, August 18-21, in its 13th season. This four day series celebrates the American music, jazz.
While it has presented some top names in the field, including the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Lenny White, Buster Williams, Arturo O’Farrill, Dave Liebman and Wallace Roney, this event is designed to raise the profile of Hudson Valley area jazz artists deserving wider recognition.
Performances are held in multiple towns and environments, from cafes to libraries, restaurants, public spaces, parks, performing arts centers, libraries, clubs and art galleries. From Warwick to Greenwood Lake to Sugar Loaf to Port Jervis to New Paltz to Kingston to Woodstock to Port Chester.
A featured concert is made possible by the Village of Warwick, presenting International recording artist, Oz Noy . With Oz will be drummer Anton Fig, from the former David Letterman band, and organist Jerry Z. That will be on Railroad Ave , Saturday, Aug. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Supporting organization, the Warwick Historical Society, hosts a Sunday concert, “Composers 4-um,” with Joe Vincent Tranchina, Robert Kopec, Eric Person and Peter O’Brien. Opening night is made possible by “On The Lawn” in Sugar Loaf, with Albert Wisner Library, Continuim Art Space In Greenwood Lake and UpFront Gallery in Port Jervis all chipping in.
Rave Tesar of Warwick will be at Unison Arts in New Paltz. Legend Stanley Jordan’s up in Woodstock and drumming master Eliot Zigmund performs with the Rick Savage 4tet.

What’s new is that four area musicians appear for the first time at the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival. They are Slide Attack, presented by the Village of Greenwood Lake; Bill Ware via Albert Wisner Library; Kaya Nicole in Port Chester; and Gus Mancini in Kingston.
Many concerts are free or with minimum cost tickets or purchase of food and drink. They’re easily accessible, with a range of styles within the jazz genre.
