Pearl Harbor remembered at Wayne Memorial Hospital

A wreath laying ceremony was held at Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) this week in recognition of Pearl Harbor Day and to honor the armed forces members who served that day 81 years ago. Veterans, family members, local officials and members from WMH administration and staff attended the ceremony at the hospital’s memorial plaque, dedicated to soldiers who lost their lives in World War I.
The program included an account of the event, the Pledge of Allegiance, a memorial prayer, the wreath laying and the playing of Taps.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt called the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii “a date which will live in infamy.” The surprise attack by the Japanese claimed approximately 2,400 lives and marked the official entry of the U.S. into World War II.
