Striving to be a model and make waves in other ways
Milford. Wendy Kaplan reads from her memoir, The Last Model Standing, at Sparkomatic in Milford, on July 30.
Wendy Stuart Kaplan will read from her funny, self-deprecating memoir of pursuing success in modeling, The Last Model Standing. The story follows her from the Bronx to a perspective-changing village in Nigeria, to Studio 54, to a chance encounter with Andy Warhol and work in a vast array of modeling jobs. She becomes an actress, comedian, club MC and award winning documentary film maker. She currently hosts two podcasts begun during the pandemic and performs in New York clubs.
She describes her connection to Milford as “22 years of joining, supporting, and sustaining the sense of community and creativity that brought me to Pike County in the first place,” including her involvement with LGBTQ+ and Triversity, from its beginnings.
Following the reading will be a Q and A. Books will be available for purchase.
