Vera String Quartet coming to Grey Towers
Milford. The quartet has won multiple awards and had residencies in the U.S. and Europe. They will play at Grey Towers National Historic Site Pool Pavilion
The Vera String Quartet will perform classical and contemporary pieces outdoors, under a large canopy, at Grey Towers Pool Pavilion on July 16, at 5:30 p.m.
From the Curtis Institute to Verbier to NPR
The Vera String Quartet won the Grand Prize at both the 2017 Plowman and Yellow Springs Chamber Music competitions, and in 2018 they won the St. Lawrence Award at the Wigmore Hall String Quartet Competition. Prior to these and other awards they were the String Quartet in Residence at the Curtis Institute of Music, and they have since been honored with residencies at the Beethoven House in Bonn, the Verbier Festival Academy, NPR, and the Aspen, Norfolk, and Rockport Chamber Music festivals.
At Grey Towers they will perform Haydn Op. 20 No. 4 and Mendelssohn Op. 13 string quartets as well as a contemporary piece by Jessie Montgomery Strum. The first violin you hear will be Kate Arndt; Byungchan Lee will play second violin, Grace Takeda is the violist, and Justin Goldsmith is the cellist.
