Who’s who of politicians show up at local fundraiser
Bill Rosado hosted a fundraiser for Jim Bognet, candidate for Pennsylvania’s 8th congressional district
Minority Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy showed up Thursday September 1. So did a bunch of local politicians and Republican leaders invited to Bill Roasado’s 21,000 square foot Moosic, PA home to raise funds for Jim Bognet’s candidacy to represent Pennsylvania’s 8th congressional district.
Bognet is running to unseat Democrat Matt Cartwright. The fundraiser reportedly raised $104,000.
Attendees from Milford included Pike County Commissioner Matt Osterberg, John (Duke) Schneider, Davis Chant, Pike County Republican Party Chairman Chris Decker, Milford Borough Councilman Joe Dooley, and Lisa Emery, among others.
The event was lavish. Two full bars plus a large variety of food, cheeses, sushi, and other appetizers entertained the 200 guests. A mini bus brought folks from Milford.
Jim Bognet’s campaign flyers promoted him as “One of Us—fighting for Northeast PA -not the special interests and lobbyists.” In remarks, Bognet and McCarthy pointed to “Democrat’s radical tax and spend agenda driving the runaway inflation in our country.”
Rosado announced he had become a US citizen the day prior, which dovetailed with the “American Dream” theme of the fundraiser.
Other Republicans on hand who voiced support for Bognet included Dan Naylor from Lackawanna County, Eryn Harvey, running for state representative in the Wilkes -Barre area and Congressmembers Dan Meuser and Rosemary Brown. Brown is leaving Congress to run for Pennsylvania State Senate.
Speaker McCarthy was optimistic about Republicans’ chances in the upcoming election. “This year we have the wind at our back,” he said.
