Abram “Bud” DeVries, 80, of Dingmans Ferry passed away, Sunday, November 24, 2024, at home.
Up until his retirement, he worked as a shop steward for Malcolm Konnor Cheverlot in Paramus, NJ.
Bud was a devout member of Dingmans Ferry United Methodist Church, as well as a loyal volunteer for both the Delaware Township Volunteer Fire Department and North Haledon Volunteer Fire Department. He was a loyal fan of the New York Giants as well as NASCAR racing. Hobbies of Bud’s included hunting and traveling. He would often spend his spare time relaxing by his pool with friends and family, otherwise known as “Bud’s Hangout.”
The son of the late Cornelius and Greta (VanderVeer) DeVries, Bud was born May 10, 1944, in Prospect Park, New Jersey.
He was married to the late Vanda L. (Bosma) DeVries. Together, they raised two sons, Timothy A. and Benjamin C. DeVries who preceded him in death.
Left to cherish Bud’s memory are his grandchildren Tara Stevenson and Jacob DeVries, sister Jessica Hazen, brother Neil DeVries, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. at the Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford Street, Milford, Pennsylvania.
Funeral services: November 26, 2024, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Sungduk Kim officiating.
Burial: November 27, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Fair Lawn, New Jersey.
Memorial donations in Bud’s memory may be made to the Delaware Township Volunteer Fire Department, 131 Wilson Hill Rd, Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania 18328.
