Aimee Schanzenbacher of Milford, Pa., passed away on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, with her loving family and friend by her side. She was 86.
Aimee was born May 2, 1934, in Courierres, France, the daughter of Michael and Maria Filcz Schuster.
Aimee was a custom tailor and, together with her late husband, Johann (“John”), they owned and operated John’s Custom Tailoring in Matamoras, Pa., for many years. She is a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Matamoras and the German-American Club.
Aimee enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crafting, gardening and, of course, sewing. She was much loved by her family and friends, and was energetic for her age. She wanted to make sure that everyone who supported her through this difficult time knows that it was very much appreciated.
Aimee married Johann “Hans” Schanzenbacher, who pre-deceased her. She then married Robert Nied, who also pre-deceased her.
Aimee is survived by her daughters, Rita Schanzenbacher and her husband, Stefan Balogh, of Hamburg, Germany, and Hannelore Schanzenbacher of Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; son, Peter Schanzenbacher and his wife, Donna, of the Town of Greenville, N.Y.; beloved grandchildren, Jovan, Julika, Ryan, and Eric; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was hwls Feb. 23 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Matamoras, with the Rev. Joseph Maranchuck as the celebrant. Spring interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, N.Y.
