Caroline B. Ofenloch passed on January 9, 2025, at Bon Secour Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. She was a longtime resident of Milford, Pa. She was born in Hicksville, Long Island, NY, on September 23, 1921, to Matilda B. Fleischbein Ofenloch and John H. Ofenloch.
Caroline was a registered nurse and a graduate of the Mary Immaculate School of Nursing and St. John’s University, both in Jamaica, Queens, NY. She served as an army nurse in the Pacific during WWII and was, prior to her death, one of the last surviving WWII nurses. She was also a school nurse - teacher.
She was a devoted member of the Tri-State Dog Obedience Club in Shohola, Pa., where she is survived by many friends. She bred and loved champion miniature pinschers for over 50 years.
Caroline was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Milford. A memorial Mass will be held there in the spring.
Aunt Carrie was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Julia (Nicholas Keegan) and Clara (James McCormack) and their husbands, her brothers Philip Ofenloch and George Ofenloch and his wife Jeanne, her nephew Frank McCormack, and many friends.
She is survived by her nieces Caroline McCormack Cleinman, Mary McCormack, and Diane Ofenloch Stambler (Alan); her nephews Philip McCormack, James McCormack, John McCormack (Robb), Steven Keegan, and Edward Leahy; many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.
