Daniel Wood III, 70, of Westfall Twp., Pennsylvania, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
Daniel was born on May 24, 1953, in Paterson, New Jersey. Dan married the love of his life, Debbie, and they spent 47 loving years together raising their three children, Anna, Daniel, and Christina. He was so proud of each and every one of his children and grandchildren. Through the years Deb and Dan were there for each other in sickness and in health.
Daniel had a profound love for the outdoors. In his younger years he liked fishing, swimming, hunting, ice skating, archery or hiking in the woods. He simply enjoyed the beauty of nature. He found peace and joy in the great outdoors. As a teenager, he was an impressive boxer and member of the Lou Costello Boxing Club in Paterson, NJ.
A true renaissance man and Jack of all trades, Daniel had a remarkable ability to master any task he set his mind to. He particularly loved restoring cars, with a special fondness for working on classic Mustangs. Daniel was also an avid follower of current events, often seen watching the news on TV and keeping up with news both near and far.
Daniel’s greatest passion, however, was his treasured children. He was always there for them. His calm demeanor, boundless wisdom, and ability to always share great advice made him a pillar of strength for his family. His selflessness and unwavering support were constants in the lives of his loved ones, and he took immense pride in their achievements and happiness.
Daniel leaves fond memories behind to his beloved wife Debra Wood; his daughter Anna Ford; his son Daniel Wood IV; his daughter Christina Wood; his grandchildren Christopher Miller, Caitlin Miller, Daniel Wood V, and Eowyn Ford; his mother Rita Wood; his siblings Iris Pierantozzi and Glen Wood; his brother-in-law Thomas LaConte; and his brother-in-law/uncle Lawrence Doherty.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father Daniel Wood Jr.; his siblings Rita Vater, Gary Wood, and Brian Wood; his sister-in-law Donna Doherty; his parents-in-law Thomas and Anna LaConte; and his son-in-law Paul Ford.
Visitation: Sunday, May 26, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St, Newton, NJ.
Funeral service: Sunday, May 26, 2024, during the second visitation at 6 p.m.
