On December 18, 2023, Grace Forsythe passed away peacefully in Tampa, Florida. At 102 years of age, she had said she felt very blessed to enjoy such a healthy and happy long life with her loving family and friends.

Grace was born and raised in New York City. She had many joyous memories of her young life in Manhattan walking through the city’s museums and parks with her brothers.

She attended Hunter College and in 1942 she married Robert Forsythe. After living in Manhattan, NY, for many years Grace and Bob moved with their three daughters, Mary, Gladys and Carolyn, to their honeymoon town of Milford, Pa.

There they lived in a charming, large, old home in the heart of town on the Delaware River. Grace had many joyful memories of the family swimming and boating in the river. Grace and Bob were active members of the First Presbyterian Church where they made many good friends.

Grace finished her education with a master’s degree in education and became a school teacher. She taught in the Milford school system and in the Sandyston-Walpack school system across the river in Layton, NJ. Grace loved her home and community and her work with children so very much. It all gave her many fond memories of their family life together.

In retirement Grace and Bob moved to the Farmington Woods Community in Avon, Conn. There they were active members of the Memorial United Methodist Church which again gave them many good friends.

After Bob’s passing Grace became a snow bird living in Pinellas Park, Florida, in the winter months. She enjoyed her church community there with the Good Samaritan Church.

Grace greatly enjoyed her retirement years visiting with family and friends, playing piano and singing, doing needlepoint and crocheting, and avidly reading literature.

Grace was such a positive giving person. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, skilled teacher, and a dedicated church and community member. She will be missed, but carried in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.

Grace is survived by her three daughters and their spouses: Mary and Curvin Montgomery of Burlington, Conn., Gladys and Michael Perreault of Waterboro, Maine, and Carolyn and William Wilson of Tampa, Fl.; also her nephew David Cullen and wife Mary Lynn of Ocean City, Md.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will be holding a private memorial service at Grace’s final resting place, next to her husband Bob, in the Milford Cemetery.
