Greta Ahlman-Lane
Gertrude “Greta” Ahlman-Lane, of Waymart, Pa., passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Wayne Woodlands Manor, where she had been a resident for the past two years. She was 90 years old.
The daughter of the late John R. (1956) and Betty (Wallentin) Lunde (1975), she was born on May 20, 1931, in Newark, N.J. and grew up in Roseland, N.J. From 1959 to 1979, she, along with her first husband, George Ahlman, raised their two children in Ridgewood, N.J. She then lived in Dumont, N.J. with her second husband, Walter D. Lane, before he passed away. She relocated to Shohola, Pa. in 1992 after retiring from her last employer, Midland Bank, as a Collateral Coordinator.
Greta was a member of the Milford Bible Church, and a member of the Frances Irwin Hand Weavers in Sussex County. Proud of her Swedish heritage, she mastered many handcrafts, including weaving, spinning, dyeing, knitting, quilting, and rosemåling, a type of Scandinavian folk painting. She was also an avid reader and researcher, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Gertrude Elizabeth Swenson (1930), brother, Norman Lunde (2008), first husband, George Ahlman (2006), and second husband, Walter D. Lane (1988).
Greta is survived by her devoted children, Linea Van Dyke (husband, Gary) and Carson Ahlman (wife, Nicole); beloved grandchildren, Amanda Duffy (husband, James), Kyle Van Dyke (fiancée, Jillian Curry), Briana Van Dyke (fiancé, Thomas Derienzo), Carly Ahlman (husband, Ryan Doherty), Erika Ahlman and Siena Ahlman; cherished great-grandchildren, Lilyanna Duffy and Maeve Duffy.
A memorial service celebrating Greta’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 2 at Milford Bible Church, 110 Foxcroft Dr., Milford, Pa. 18337. Final interment at a later date will be held at the Lakeville Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Greta may be made to Milford Bible Church.
