Helen E. Connelly

Helen E. Connelly,89, a lifetime resident of Port Jervis, N.Y. died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013 at Valley View Nursing Home in Goshen, N.Y.

She was born March 1, 1924 in Port Jervis, N.Y. the daughter of the late Jasper and the late Tamasina Soletro Marino.

Helen was married for 48 years to Thomas J. Connelly prior to his death on May 14, 1992.

She worked for Andmore Sportswear as a Sewing Machine Operator and also worked at Novelty Slipper both in Port Jervis. Helen was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Mount Carmel Society and she was a volunteer for St. Francis Hospital in Port Jervis.

A family statement read: "The family would like to thank the caring staff at Valley View Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave to mom. Mom was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She will be greatly missed."

Surviving are: two sons Michael Connelly and his wife Mary of Port Jervis, N.Y. and Thomas Connelly and his wife Carey Sue of Port Jervis, N.Y.; five granddaughters Jeanine, Lauren, Michelle, Kristin and Erin; four great grandchildren Madison, Michael, Gracie and Jaxson; her special cousin Mal Mason and family; her lifelong friend Billy Pagano; one niece Karen Given; and one nephew Joseph Connelly and family.

She was predeceased by her sister Antoinette “Ann” Marino.

Funeral services were be held at Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's R.C. Church, 46 Ball Street, Port Jervis, N.Y. with Rev. George Hafemann officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis, N.Y.
