Jane Elizabeth Helms, nee McGoey, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024, in her family home. She was born in Port Jervis, New York, on May 20, 1943, to John and Mary (Kinney) McGoey.

Jane was a very proud graduate of Orange County Community College, having earned her associate’s degree in nursing.

For many years, she worked at St. Frances Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit where she tended to critical conditioned patients, aiding them back to health. After her time working with St. Frances, she worked at Kolmar Lab as an industrial nurse until her eventual retirement.

She sat on the board of directors for Kolmar Lab Credit Union, American Red Cross, and Salvation Army. Jane could be often found manning a table at the blood bank.

Her summers were spent at the Masuracks pool, teaching swimming lessons to all age groups, and winters were spent at the Malibu pool, teaching lifeguarding classes.

She was a devout and active member at St. Joseph’s Church, Prayer Chain, and Catholic Daughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary McGoey; brother John McGoey; sister-in-law Linda McGoey; and brothers-in-law Edmond Helms, Sunny Helms, Norman Helms, Randolph Gregory, and Andrew Karabinus.
