    John H. Galvin of Matamoras died on Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at his home. He was 75.

    Son of the Late John G. Galvin and Edna Keener Galvin Ricciardi, he was born on July 7, 1940, in Port Jervis.

    He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years as a weigh master for Kolmar Labs in Port Jervis. After his retirement he worked for the Pike County Department of Veterans Affairs in Milford.

    He was an avid chess player and was a member of the United States Chess Federation. He served as a councilman for the Borough of Matamoras. He was a member of the Devore-Quinn American Legion Post #486 in Matamoras.

    He married Ann M. Perry, who pre-deceased him.

    Survivors include his two sons, Steven Galvin of Port Jervis, and John Galvin and his wife, Lisa, of Chambersburg, Pa.; daughter, Mary Snyder and her husband, Keith, of Lacona, N.Y.; grandchildren, John, Alexis, Rebecca and Samantha; brother-in-law, William Perry of Port Jervis; and several nieces and nephews.

    He was pre-deceased by his brother James Galvin.

    Visitation was held Aug. 28 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis. Funeral services were held at the funeral home with the Rev. Vincent Odikanoro officiating. Interment took place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis.
