Karla Pauline Berthel-Kolasa, 59

It is with a sad and heavy heart, that the family of Karla Pauline Berthel-Kolasa share the news of her passing on the evening of January 4, 2025, at Newton Medical Center, Newton, NJ.

The beloved daughter of the late Carl Richard and June Elizabeth (Crocker) Berthel, Karla was born on May 27, 1965, in Binghamton, NY, and was the youngest of six. She grew up in Binghamton and then later, Windsor, NY.

She was married to William Kolasa for over 30 years. In that time, she raised three children: Krystal, Lisa, and Steven. Karla was a loving and devoted mother and wife, as well as a true and loyal friend. She was a kind, sweet, wonderful lady with a radiant smile that would light up the room. Karla will be truly and deeply missed by all who were lucky and blessed enough to have known her.

Lovingly remembering her are her husband William Kolasa; children, Krystal, Lisa, and Steven Kolasa; brothers Craig Berthel and Donald McMahon; sister Sharon McMahon Rothberg Kirby; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were to her, family too.

She was predeceased by her mother June Berthel, father Carl Berthel, and brothers Scott Berthel and Ronald McMahon.

Memorial services: Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Barryville United Methodist Church in Barryville, NY.
