Marilyn Joyce Siracuse, 85

| 23 Jul 2024 | 12:59

Marilyn Joyce Siracuse, 85, of Dingmans Ferry was called home to the Lord on July 19, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Elizabeth (Sojka) McCloskey, her beloved husband George, and her youngest son Peter. Marilyn was fiercely independent and always very generous with her time. When her children were young, she was involved in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and CYO. Later in life, she spent her time volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Marilyn’s Catholic faith was also very important to her. She was active in her parish, St. Vincent de Paul R.C. Church in Milford, Pa., having served as a faith formation teacher and Eucharistic minister over the years. She was an avid gardener and was always working on new projects around the house. Much to her children’s dismay, those projects often involved ladders or moving heavy items like bales of hay. She enjoyed traveling with her church’s senior group, meeting with her book club and playing mahjong, cards, bingo and dominoes with friends. Despite all she did, Marilyn’s greatest joy was her family and she was always most proud to talk about the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by her children Laura Siracuse, Diane (Chip) Beninati, George (Loretta) Siracuse, Matthew (Lisa) Siracuse, Joseph (Thea) Siracuse, and her late son Peter’s wife, Alana (Tony Spera) Siracuse Spera. She also leaves behind grandchildren Gabriel and Kat Siracuse; Chuck (Noemi), Eric (Kate) and Tim Beninati; George (Erin) Siracuse; Christina (Marcus) Munley; Michelle (Adam) Mattern; Mary and Catherine Siracuse; Brianna (Frank Shelton) Siracuse; Colin (Nina), Devin and Andrew Siracuse; Peter and Nicolas Siracuse; Ryan Siracuse; and Lexi, Nicole and Anthony Spera. Her great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart – Athena Beninati; Kayce Beninati; George, Theodore, Lucia, Thomas and John Siracuse; Robert, Julianna, Magdalena and Benjamin Munley; Raymond Mattern; and Eleanor Shelton. Marilyn is also survived by her sisters Patricia (John) Hopkins and Elizabeth (the late Paul) Holup, and brothers Richard (Linda) McCloskey and Raymond (Peggy) McCloskey, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
