Peter W. Toussaint, 94, of Matamoras, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

Peter was born in Matamoras, Pennsylvania, to Peter A. Toussaint and Wilhelmina Toussaint on February 17, 1930. Upon graduation from Matamoras High School, Peter attended and graduated from East Stroudsburg University and then received his master’s degree in education from William Paterson University. In addition, Peter honorably served his country as a staff sergeant during the Korean War and was awarded two Bronze Star Korean Service Medals. Peter also worked as an educator in the Sussex-Wantage, New Jersey, school system for nearly 37 years. During that time, he was everything from a math teacher to a physical education teacher, and also a science teacher.

Over the years, Peter followed his beloved New York Giants and the New York Mets. He also enjoyed playing softball in several recreation leagues and was an active member of the Matamoras American Legion, Port Jervis Elks Lodge, Stone Dock Hunting Club, and Matamoras Fire Department.

Peter is survived by his loving wife Barbara Toussaint and his sons Ross (Cindy) Toussaint, Mark (Kathleen) Toussaint, and Lee Toussaint. Additional survivors are his grandchildren: Lauren (David) Gilles, Shane (Jennifer) Toussaint, Daniel (Kacia) Toussaint, Kimberly (Gregory) Sharry, and Noah Toussaint. Peter is further survived by his eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Pauline, and her husband, Kenneth Farmer.
