Richard J. Presto peacefully passed away the afternoon of April 2, 2025, after a courageous battle with Amyloidosis.
In his final moments, he was lovingly surrounded by his devoted wife and family, who offered him comfort and support at his bedside.
Born on Dec. 5, 1957, in Port Jervis, N.Y., he was a lifelong resident of Matamoras, Pa. He later moved to Dallas, Pa. It was there that he married his beloved wife, Jennifer Giannuzzi, with whom he shared the remainder of his life. He is the son of Catherine “Kay” Presto and the Charles Presto Jr.
He graduated from Delaware Valley High School, Milford, Pa.
He first worked as a dishwasher at The Golden Steer in Matamoras, where he watched the chefs there and picked up a few tricks. He was chief chef at Karsten’s Inn in Port Jervis, N.Y. Since most of Rich’s favorite recipes were of Italian origin, he had to learn German cooking to be able to handle the restaurants German American menu.
He moved onto the Mt. Haven Resort in Milford, where he worked as a short order cook and later became a lead chef.
In 2009 he and his wife became owners/operators of Bistro on The Ave in Kingston, Pa.
In addition to his father, Richard was preceded in death by his older brother Charles “Chuck” III and baby brother Gregory.
Surviving are his loving wife, Jennifer Giannuzzi and his mother Catherine “Kay” Presto.
Children: Erica Presto, Richard “Rocky” II, Daniel and Sara Presto. Grandchildren: Damien, Richard III (RJ), Jayden, Jayce, Terri, Kiara, Asher, and Michael. Siblings: Tyrone, Jeffrey (Becky), Dwayne (Ronnie), Dana (Barb), Timmy Sr., Sister Lisa Presto and Sister-in-law Vicky Presto (late Charles III). Along with numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of family.
