On March 12, 2025, our loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend Stephen Decker passed away with his family by his side.

Stephen worked at Mennen/Colgate for 43 years. After he retired, he was a volunteer on the Matamoras Recreation Board where he helped with the concession stand and maintaining the grounds.

He was a man of many talents such as woodworking, gardening and he enjoyed planting flowers, especially when his great granddaughters Kaia and Kenzie helped him.

He loved working on his 34’ Chevy “Boomer” and going to car shows.

He recently found a new passion for playing pool, and joined a local pool league and even bought a new pool table to practice on.

Any party or event Steve was always on the dance floor dancing in his cowboy boots and hat. No matter what he was doing or where he went, Charlie would greet him with a wagging tail and a friendly bark when he got home.

The son of Giles William and Mary (Kovalchick) Decker, Stephen was born on April 15, 1948, in Perth Amboy, N.J. He was married to Rose Leigh Decker for 54 wonderful years and remained by her side until her passing on Oct. 18, 2021.

Together Stephen and Rose raised four children, welcomed six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sherry Gross and son-in-law George Featherman.

Left to cherish his memory are his children JoAnn Featherman, Tracy Decker, and Laura Decker and Jim; grandchildren Miranda, Katie and her husband Kyle, Brandon and his wife Andrea, Thomas, Brittney and Austin; and two great grandchildren, Kaia and Kenzie.

A Receiving of Friends will be held on Sunday, April 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford. Memorial services will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Final interment will be on Monday, April 7, at Milford Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to VITAS Healthcare, Bereavement Resources. (Vitas is affiliated with Hospice) Suite 100, 2381 Mason Ave, Daytona Beach, Fla. 32117.
