Career Day at DV Middle School

WESTFALL — Delaware Valley Middle School conducted a Career Day for Eighth graders on Oct. 21. The event was planned and directed by Gerard Geoffroy, guidance counselor for Delaware Valley Middle School. Students had the opportunity to attend three sessions out of 36 that were presented. Many presentations included several different careers. Presenters offered an overview of their career and incorporated unique personal experiences into their session. This gave the students an opportunity to see a multifaceted view of a career. They learned the practical aspects of education and preparation for a career, the personal commitment that is required, and the rewards and satisfactions each of these representatives experience in their chosen occupation. Guests, students and faculty were very positive about the Career Day experience. Many students were enthusiastic to pursue additional information on the career presentations, which they attended, as well as related careers. Additional career research will be pursued through a career program in their social studies classes.
