Delaware Township man guilty of molesting girl
MILFORD - Pike County District Attorney Douglas Jacobs announced today the conviction of Carl Northrip II, age 37, of Delaware Township of multiple counts of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Statutory Sexual Assault, Incest and Corruption of Minors. The charges were the result of several incidents that he committed against a girl who was between the ages of thirteen and fourteen at the time. Northrip was convicted after a three day jury trial in the Pike County Court of Common Pleas in Milford. The jury of eight women and four men deliberated for approximately two and a half hours before finding the defendant guilty. Northrip’s bail was revoked after the verdict and he was remanded to the Pike County Correctional Facility. The incidents leading to the charges happened during a period between May of 2003 through December of 2004 in Delaware Township, at Northrip’s home. During the trial, the District Attorney’s Office called the victim to testify and also produced evidence collected by the Pennsylvania State Police. Bruce DeSarro, the Assistant District Attorney who prosecuted the case, stated “that the conviction was made possible because of the courageous persistence and determination of the victim.” DeSarro also stated that “the Pennsylvania State Police did an excellent job in collecting evidence that was crucial to the jury’s verdict.” Northrip’s sentencing will occur in approximately ninety days during which time a pre-sentence investigation will be completed by the Pike County Probation Department, along with a sexual assessment which is performed by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board pursuant to Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law.
