WESTFALL — On March 22, some 23 Delaware Valley High School band members, accompanied by Director of Bands, Lance Rauh, traveled to the campus of Honesdale High School to participate in the annual Pike-Wayne County Band Festival. The band members were joined with 130 other student musicians from the area and shared in a day long festival of making music. Under the direction of Jeffrey Stempien, veteran band director from upstate New York, band students from five area schools prepared a program of educational high school band literature. Along with those from Delaware Valley, student musicians from East Stroudsburg North, Honesdale, Wallenpaupack, and Western Wayne High School all contributed to the festival. They took part in an entire day of intense rehearsals that culminated in a concert displaying the vast talents of all the music students. The students were able to prepare the literature and enjoy an educational day of creating music and also gaining the experience of interacting with other talented high school musicians.
